Atlanta Child Photographer: Baby Jillian

I am so excited to share this little ball of joy.  Baby Jillian was chipper and sweet as can be on an early Saturday morning and such a joy to photograph.  We had a short period of time to work with but I think we made the most of it... Happy 7 months doll!

Tips + Tricks: Making yourself look good in a photo

From time to time, I get that person who DOES NOT want their picture taken.  I mean, when they see a camera, they cover their faces or run for the hills.  I'm not being dramatic here because this has/does happen.  It's strange because when I see the picture, I don't see the same thing.  In light of this situation I run into sometimes, which can prove to be awkward when you're a photographer, I found this handy article on how to make yourself look your best in pictures. So to all you ladies (or men) that shy away from the camera, don't be scared of the camera and embrace your inner photogenic self!

6 Month Old Kendall - Atlanta Baby Photographer

I had the joy over Easter weekend of capturing my sister's beautiful family.  I don't get to see my sister's family often as they live in Houston Texas so whenever they come in town, I end up taking many gigabytes of pictures of them.  I have to say this is the sweetest/happiest baby I've had the pleasure of taking pictures of to date.  Don't these pictures just make you want to smile with her?  Love you Kendall and congrats to Tessa and Brett to having a beautiful and sweet child!

Southern Animal Rescue: Adoptables

As far back as I can remember, there are two things that have always been close to my heart.  Cameras and dogs.

I grew up with a pack of dogs and now I have my own little rescue pup who is my constant companion. (Most of you all already know this as I post way to many pictures of her.)  In college I got introduced to the "pit bull" breed dog and fell in love with a dog named Max. He was white and brindle and was the sweetest and most obedient dog I had ever been around.  He displayed what it meant to be a well trained and behaved pet.

To this day, I have always had a soft spot of "bully breeds" as they are often the most sweet, affectionate and obedient dogs I've ever been around.   The breed has unfortunately been mistreated by poor owners and misjudged by people who aren't familiar with the breed.   For any dog, they are what you make them.

I am happy to announce my partnership with Southern Animal Rescue to help these animals get adopted. I will be taking pictures of these amazing and sweet animal in hopes of finding them good, new homes.

Below are two pups, Gallagher and George.  Gallagher was recently updated (only a few hours after posting his new pictures) but George still needs a good forever home.  He was completed under weight when he was rescued (skin and bones) and now he sports a healthy, muscular body.  The moment I met George, all he wanted to do was love on you and lick on you.  This one is a winner for sure.

Enjoy this puppy sweetness:

Kory + Errick: Engaged

This couple is very special to me. I have known Kory for over three years now as she was my official "co-worker friend" after college.  I couldn't have been happier when Errick popped the question and they asked me do their engagement pictures.   They decided to take pictures on the west end of town for an urban look then soft it up the second part of the shoot at Piedmont Park.  Congratulations Errick and Kory and may you two have a long and beautiful life as Mr. and Mrs.!

Weekend Love

What I loved about my weekend:

1. The AMAZING morning light that creeps into my small apartment.

Kona and I have a morning ritual where she realizes that I am leaving and will stop and just stare at me.  So on this pretty morning, she gave me some good photo material to work with.

This light is honestly so gorgeous!  I wish I could bottle it up and take it with me to all my shoots.

2. Lazy walks.

Here Kona is recovering from her excursion with her best little friend Paxton.  Me and my good friend Nikki went to a nearby creek where the two fuzzy friends ran in and out of a creek for about an hour.   Kona is a tough one to tire out so it was a successful trip.

3. Reading first thing on a Sunday morning in bed.

I just finished up The Help.  As my friends promised, it was a non-stop, can't put me down book. I definitely shed a few tears, I couldn't help it! Now I just have to wait for Brett to finish reading so I can finally see the movie.

4. Filling the blank hours with Pinterest.

Ok, I have to admit, I am totally addicted to Pinterest.   It's become a void filler and menu for me.  This morning as I planned my week's worth of meals, I instantly went to Pinterest to find my saved recipes.  It's actually pretty awesome as I no longer have to save print out of recipes from years past.

About every Sunday, I venture across town (about 10 miles) to my food oasis. I do the type A thing and come baring a list of essentials.  I usually speed up and down the aisle with my list, constantly marking off what I have collected. I have recently really been trying to do a whole foods diet so the Farmer's Market is the perfect place to go and it's incredibly affordable.  This week's new addition is Swiss Chard. I hope it works out... lol.

I have a confession- I heart makeup

Even though I would consider myself a tom boy, I totally love to play with makeup.  Some girls love to buy shoes and others love purses but you put me in Ulta or Sephora, I am not coming out empty handed.  I recently went to Ulta to pick up a new OPI shade and ended up coming out with two new nail polishes and the Urban Decay "Naked 2" palette.

I LOVE Urban Decay eyeshadow so it was incredibly hard to resist a beautiful, neutral palette! Needless to say, I purchased it and began watching some youtube reviews and tutorials on the palette.  I'm super glad I bought it because the shades allow you to create simple and dynamic looks.

The only other kinds of blogs I stalk as much as photography blogs are cool makeup blogs.  I'm so jealous of all the fun makeup those girls have and most of them get it for FREE!

Even though my sweet boyfriend would prefer a natural or makeup free look, I can't help myself.  Here is my take on an Urban Decay smokey look.  Here is the original video I watched.  Mine looks like it turned out more bronze but that probably has to do with my bathroom lighting and my primer has a yellowy tint. (Is yellowy a word...?)
